To say this was a large home renovation is an understatement! The house had been in disrepair for many, many years. When the new homeowner purchased it they were open to anything! After working closely with the architect we developed a new floor plan which involved moving the kitchen to the opposite end of the home and removing some key walls while still maintaining the home’s historical charm. The house also needed a full earthquake retrofit, so while we were at it we dug down a bit lower and were able to add a full height lower level to the home! By rotating the stairs we were able to fit in three bedrooms, a new primary suite and a utility closet into the new living space on the lower level. During the demo we discovered we could raise the ceilings on the main level two feet and it made quite the impact. The homeowner was happy to hand us the design reigns and we ran with it. From adding a full wall of custom molding, selecting designer finishes, leathered counters, and a library wall and ladder, this home was a gem when it was finished.
